Part I: Wellness and Nutrition
Harkness Dance Center for Injury Prevention's head physical therapist will give an in-depth talk and presentation about injury prevention and nutrition geared toward tweens and teens. This will be designed with Jete students and the genres of dance they are studying in mind.
“The goal of the Harkness Center’s educational activities is to prevent injuries and illnesses in dancers and to provide the dance and medical community with the knowledge and skills necessary for the evaluation and treatment of such problems when they do occur. The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries provides innovative, practical and relevant educational lectures and workshops to the dance and medical communities."
Part II: College and Beyond
Susan Epstein, Industry Leader will be Speaking on Dance Colleges and Future Careers. She will be covering topics such as:
Why go to college to dance? Research in high school, helpful books, when to start looking, how to get financial aid, scholarships and more. Dance/arts environment as an entrepreneur, making connections for your future. Options for receiving a liberal arts education BA, BFA, BS, or MFA. What do those letters mean for you as a dancer, with double majors or minors,?
If your family is thinking about these life experiences today or in the future, we look forward to giving you all a leg up and open the conversation about your dancers well-being and their bright futures. This workshop is open to dancers, friends and parents. All dancers under 15 must have parent attend for nutrition and prevention lecture.
